I have been using my Legacy Shay with my Tin Plate Work Train, did any company ever make a real Tin Plate Shay Engine?

I am not aware of a tinplate standard gauge Shay but I once had a custom built G gauge (1:22.5) live steam 2-truck Shay made of steel plate and brass. A gentleman (Geoff Coldrick) in one of the Maritime Provinces made it for me under his "Geoffbilt" brand. He had been an RAF fighter pilot in WWII!

Have no Standard Gauge Layout and although really cool Steve's Shay is not what I was looking to acquire.

Not aware of one, but I think your Legacy looks fine with your tinplate. It has a bit of a G scale/LGB look. Very nice.

There was a Shay, very few were made (I had one). It was by Classic Model Trains. It wasn't a a Shay in the truest sense however it was a really cool model. I had mine for a long time and sold it (all of the CMT stuff was DC as I recall and I didn't like converting it to AC). I'll dig around and see if I can find a picture of it. There were only a small handful of people that pursued them (at the time it was me and Arno and a few old-timers that were into CMT).
