Could someone provide a link to 1.6?

Thanks,

As posted above, there is a permanent post with all the various software links here.

Why do you suppose that Lionel is so resistant to easy to provide links on their website for Legacy support?

I forgot the magic word "6-14295" and tried "990" for a few minutes. No joy. Then I tried various Legacy links, no joy. Then I tried "Legacy Upgrades", again no joy.

I had to rely on your links here on The OGR Forum.

Why when Legacy is their legacy?

maybe you could contact Howard Hitchcock and ask him your question.

he has been very open to suggestions.

Thanks Marty for the link.  I came into the thread in the middle and spent some time searching the Lionel site before my post.  Now for my next question for Lionel which I think is appropriate for this subject.  Forgive me if it has been addressed in a previous post as I have searched.

Why can't I upgrade the firmware directly from the LSU?  In other words why do I need a writable module?

Thanks,

Chris

It does seem odd since you can write to a module thru the base with the RS232 port, but not write directly to the firmware in the base. Of course to update a CAB2, since it only has a module port...you have to create modules for it anyway to update it. Maybe it's just for that reason...might as well make them both the same procedure.

good question for the upcoming York legacy users group meeting.

I think cjack nailed it.  The Cab2 will need a module regardless to upgrade.  Having a module in my pocket is easier than dragging my PC around when I upgrade other systems or have to reload mine in the unlikely event I need to.  I would bet there is a way or could be a way to do the 990 w/o a module but with everything else needing one I guess it keeps it consistent.

It would make sense though since you can retrieve the data base without a module to/from your PC.

Yep Marty, that's my point.  The TIU upgrade goes pretty fast, the remote takes more time, and then there's the clamp to hold the button down...   Also, you need a computer to do the MTH upgrades, once you have the modules, you can upgrade a room full of Legacy systems in a flash with just two small modules.
