Lately I have found that when I dial up throttle my legacy remote does not always register the command.  The dial spins but the target bar does not move.  I can immediately press any other button and the remote responds.  This leads me to believe it is not a signal issue, but perhaps a mechanical issue with the dial.  Has anyone experienced this?  Any suggestions on how to correct it?

thank you

Thanks for the suggestion Marty.  I have experienced the intermittent response from the velocity dial with all my Legacy engines (diesel and steamer).  I reduced the momentum setting, but this had no effect.

Here is another symptom/oddity.  When dialing up throttle while in the forward direction, the target bar refuses to move, and every once in awhile, the engine will shift into reverse (when the velocity throttle direction control feature is set to on), even though I never spun the dial counterclock-wise.

Strange...right?

I tried all the suggestions above but to no avail.  I emailed Lionel CS, and asked for an RA to repair my remote.  I bought my Legacy remote almost 2 years ago, so I fully expected to pay for the repair.  Mike Reagan told me they would take care of it.  I got an email today from Lionel explaining that my base and a replacement remote had been shipped!  The turn around time was less than 1 week.  Who could ask for anything more?  Lionel really offers amazing customer service!

Hi Marty,

I have talked to Mike a couple times, and I have the same impression...he does get it!  I like him.  He has always resolved my problems (which he did not create) and he has always treated me fairly.  I continue to buy Lionel engines, not because I am confident they will work when I get them, but because I know Mike and his department will take care of any problem.  So, thanks to Lionel's customer service!
