I got the Lincoln Funeral Train last year and noticed how nice the two-car extension pack cars matched up with the MTH Premier Empire State Express loco.. I ordered two more extension sets from the recent Lionel catalog and they arrived this week. I plan to remove the funeral wreaths, side placards, etc., on all six and repaint and re-interior them/add people, making one car into a dining car, and maybe add a scratch/bashed baggage car. Probably repaint the loco as Union Pacific. These cars have a very wonderful 19th century look that I really like and they match up with the loco perfectly. This is a really nice little train.
Any ideas of suggestions on doing something special/fun to the cars?
BTW - this is the MTH Premier 999 that died within an hour of so of my getting it last year. Many folks here argued with my decision not to just pack it up and send it back for warranty work. I waited a couple of months to get to it, but it took only two hours to repair - bad tender-to-loco connector. Never could determine what was bad but when I replaced it with another everything worked again. I wish MTH would go to infra-red as good as Lionel's. These connectors are a pain sometimes.
