I am a commercial property manager for the Norfolk Southern Railroad in Fairless Hills PA. One of the tenants on my property is McHugh Locomotive. For those in the South Eastern Pennsylvania area, you may of heard of the McHugh Family. They have a long history of Railroading and crane equipment. Check them out here. https://www.mchughlocomotive.com/history/#
Any way, on Friday, another delivery was made. An 80 ton switcher from the US Army. It arrived on 2 flatbeds tractor trailers, and once the trucks were placed on spare rails, the loco cab was raised and moved over to its trucks. This was great to witness.
Also, the very first SW-1 Switcher is also on the property and ready to be restored. 1901 was the first SW ever made, and the first Diesel powered loco the Atlantic Coast Line purchased back in the day. (last photo)
Needless to say, that during my daily tours of the property, I stop in and hang out with the McHugh gang often. They are also currently restoring a switcher for the US Navy. Great people and TONS of History. McHugh's also own one of the largest collections of Philadelphia and region photographs and documentation of traction equipment and TONS of original Railroad books, documentation and magazines, down to the fist issues of MR, and others.
