That was very interesting to say the least...
folks under the engine wearing hard hat...good luck with that.
might be an idea as an operating accessory on our layouts.
amazing how the wheels line up to the track when in comes down.

I was surprised I did not hear any loud warning sounds indicating 200+ ton locomotives were moving through the air.

WOW!! What a lift. Wonder if they had as much trouble lining up the wheels on the track as I do?
I heard the warning signal and there were no employees under the locomotive.
The warning signal sounded like an overfill alarm.

No. They are professionals, and probably do this at least once a day. Besides, a very slight push from the ground man will drop the wheels on the rails, just as the unit is lowered.
We used to move loaded racks of graphite tubes through the air at the graphite plant to the next dept. or for storage. Careless people who were tired from working doubles or just not paying attention, sooner or later would hit the crane stops at the very end of the building or even the second crane traveling the same crane rails in the next dept. The whole building got cleaned from the hit!
I bet they don't let rookies do that move with that kind of weight involved.
