A few weeks ago I grabbed one of the Legacy Mikados that Charles Ro was blowing out at a very, very good price. (Maybe he still has some, I don't know.) Test ran it - fantastic sound, excellent operation - but no smoke and three blinks of the cab light. This model seems to have gotten most of that bad lot of smoke fan motors that Lionel had. Got an RA#, sent it to Lionel. A week later on Wednesday morning I get an e-mail from Lionel that they have received it. On Friday I get another e-mail that it's fixed and they are sending it back to me! Another week goes by and UPS shows up with a package, signature required. Unpack the Mikado, test run it - sure enough, smokes up a storm and still runs and sounds great. UPS managed to get oil all over the outer carton, but fortunately I had packed it with the original plastic bag around the orange box so no harm done. The repair slip indicated that they had replaced the fan motor and the wick, then test run it for three hours.

 

Two day warranty service - can't beat that! Thanks Lionel, and especially thank you Mike Reagan for sorting out the mess that used to be Lionel service and making it the industry standard.
