I've made posts recently about problems with my TIU and haven't gotten around to bringing it in to my mth service station yet so I was curious. When I plug in my TIU The power light turn on then a LED labeled D1000 on the circuit board lights up and turns off about 5 seconds after the D1000 light turns off the power light flickers once and dims as if its lost power. Does anyone know if this is related to my problems of the TIU not being able to communicate with my engines? My TIU (rev L) is brand new with less than 24 hours on it

Hi skinorth,

Welcome to the forum!

As you've noticed, there are two LED's inside a Rev. L TIU.  Earlier TIU's only had one LED.  The LED you are referring to as the "power light" is located under a small round hole in the TIU's case.  It is normal for this LED to light up when power is first applied to either Fixed Channel 1 or the Aux Power Input of the TIU.  After 3.5 seconds the "power light" LED dims and then comes back up to full power.  This indicates the TIU's address number.  If the "power light" dims once the TIU is set to address #1 (factory default).  It can dim up to five times for address #5.

I will double check tomorrow when I get to work at the NorthWest Trunk Lines, but I think the other LED is supposed to stay on.  If I read your post correctly, you indicate this light turns off after about five seconds on your TIU.  This could indicate you have a problem.
