Picked up my SP 18" Aluminium passenger cars a few weeks ago. Outstanding job by Lionel in detail & finish. I have been running them for 2 weeks now but last night was the 1st time running them with the lights off in my train room. After shutting all the transformers down and shutting the lights off in the train room the lights in the cars remained on. I quickly got my electrical meter and checked the track for power. No reading on track power. What the heck.

Picked the car up and with lights still on shut off light switch under car. Still on. Gradually after another 2 minutes the lights got dimmer and finally went out.

What is going on?

The newest "flicker free" car lighting systems have a capacitor built in to the light circuit, thus the lights no longer "flicker" plus they stay on until the capacitor discharges.
