Is it feasable to run 1 legacy diesel on a 5x8 loop with a standard Lion chief wallpack and a universal remote?

The LionChief wall pack puts out DC and generally incompatibile with most 3 rail locomotives, Legacy included. There is a sliver of Legacy locomotives with Bluetooth that may operate on DC, but AC works on essentially everything.
This is a new legacy loco with bluetooth Tried it and it seems to run fine however I don't want to damage it
I can only guess you don't believe what Lionel puts in every manual, including the current Legacy models with BlueTooth! This is from my H-10 manual, a locomotive that is equipped with BT.
You can do what you like with your locomotives, but I don't attempt to run TMCC or Legacy with DC.

Sorry to sound dumb but I'm new to this legacy thing. So what would you recommend as far as a AC transformer for a 5x8 loop with a universal remote?
For just a loop of track with just a train and an accessory or two? A CW80 or similar.
For a full layout, multiple trains, multiple accessories, command control and such, things get a little more complex and expensive.
As always, you should also have external protection in forms of circuit breakers and TVS diodes and discussed all over this forum.
A Lionel CW-80 is plenty assuming you are only using it to power the train(s) and not switches and/or accessories.

Any modern transformer by MTH or Lionel with at least 100 watts. Your exact choice depends on other details of your layout, which you haven’t provided.
Maybe do some research first. There’s plenty of information already here on the forum if you use the search functions. Or just do a Google search.
Thanks all for the advice! I have obtained a CW80 transformer to supply power. The track is a simple 5x8 loop with no accessories or switches. I will be running one Bluetooth equipped legacy engine with the universal remote. So do I set the transformer throttle to full to apply power to the track?
Yep, throttle up and fire up your remote.
I’m confused, how does a Legacy engine run via LionChief or universal remote? I thought either a Legacy Cab 2, or the LionChief Plus app from a mobile device(iPad/iPhone) via bluetooth. Or, it runs in conventional mode via the throttle on the CW80. This is the statement that confused me. “I will be running one Bluetooth equipped legacy engine with the universal remote.”
Newer legacy engines with Bluetooth can be controlled by the Lionel universal remote
Ted, current Legacy with Bluetooth runs with the Universal Remote.
Good to know.
I think we did reply that in stereo.
