Hi All:
I have the Broadway Limited Lionchief set. The loco moves, but it jerks to a start and is not at all smooth except at high throttle.
I've oiled it, but still jerky. Any other ideas? I'm not sure what to expect from these sets--my only other is Polar Express and it is nice and smooth.

I would check for bad traction tire and bent wheel and driver rods.
If you don't see anything with a visual inspection, move to the next step. I normally pop the boiler shell off and slowly rotate the flywheel and feel for binding. At some point you'll probably feel some resistance, then you go look for what is binding or which rods are tight. Chances are, that's the problem.
