Its a good loco. Good detail, nicely done. The LC+ features are great.
I have not heard any bad things about the lionchief+ locos/sets.
I have a LionChief plus Pacific (electronics should be close) and it worked perfect right of the box and now has performed flawlessly for over 10 hours, pulling ten plus lighted passenger cars. I was pleasantly surprised to learn about the smoke unit turning off when the remote is in the neural position. Way to go Lionel! It drinks smoke fluid so stock up. Make sure you read all of the instructions and you should enjoy it.

The Mikado would be a excellent choose. Good luck.
I have the Chessie LC+ Mikado. Unfortunately, I had 2 duds, both from forum sponsors, until I got a good one. In regards to the dealers, I'll just say that their service and cooperation was less than ideal.
The engine is great. Nice detail, good sounds, runs beautifully. Fits right in with everything else and runs great with others on the club layout. I'm really happy with it. Unlikely but I'd really like to see Lionel do one as a Chinese SY Mikado. Not a perfect match but I'd settle for a "close enough" version.

All of them are really good.
Thanks for the quick response! I am going to the Greenberg show in Somerset NJ to get a closer look@
I have a Pacific, a Hudson and a Mikado. The Pacific and Hudson were and are flawless. The Mikado was a dud, replaced it with a different one and that one is good, but there is an annoying squeak that I cannot find. I have taken it apart twice and now I think I have solved the issue, don't ask me where the squeak was as I have been all over that thing too many times. I do love all of them andLAN on getting more. They are a fantastic value.
I just got the B&O Pacific last week. Runs great and smokes like a champ. I have pre-ordered one of the NW-2s that will be out in the spring.
I think Lionel has hit a home run with these.
I really like my CN Hudson. Speed control, sound, and smoke are excellent. If it is a reliable locomotive I'll be pleased, time will tell.
