First of all before I get started with my question, Merry Christmas everyone.

(or happy holidays if you prefer)

Here's my question, I'm contemplating buying one of Lionel's new LionChief train sets.

But do not want to use the FasTrack that comes with it.   I want to use Lionel's tubular track because I really want that toy train nostalgia feel and look.

With these new sets the the brick from the wall plugs into a 10" section of FasTrack which is really neat, it's simply plug and play.  I'm assuming that the brick is a step-down from the wall to 18 volts max ?

It's a single plug into that track pcs.  If I cut that plug off and split the cable down the middle could I feasibly then wire it directly to a traditional Lock-On for tubular track ?

These new train sets for those of you who don't know about them are perhaps the greatest innovation Lionel and perhaps any others as well have ever come up with.  These remote control trains are not infrared like the MTH starter sets.   And have we mention at a price point that even the Chinese may protest.

Suffice to say, I'm back in the 3rail game.

Any thoughts if I can wire it like that would be much appreciated.

Thank you.
