The guys in 3-rail sent me over here. Just wanted to know what the group members feel a Lionel 116 station is worth? I'm mainly interesting in finding a beater to repaint my own way but if a nice one was available for a reasonable price, I'd consider it. I don't care if it's original or repro.

I would say the thing to do is to just keep an eye on the auction bay - the 116 station can be listed under the standard gauge section or the early Lionel O gauge sections.  They do turn up in poor condition and can be had fairly cheap if you are patient for one to come along.

 

A few years ago I found a 115 - same but slightly shorter than the 116 - very rusty with parts missing and picked it up dirt cheap.  Blasted it all and repainted it to be the bank on my layout.  It's a fun project to do.  I thought gray was more of a bank color.  The bankers are all pretty much clones...
