Lionel 124 station chimney question.

Personally, I would think twisting would have a less likely chance of breaking the tab off, if you have to remove it periodically. If it's to be permanently attached, one in towards the center, one out, etc.

But then I'm not a tinplate guy.

Insert the tabs, and then very gently and slowly twist the tabs, but not too much or too far.  Just enough to hold them in place.  I think it's OK for them to rattle a bit, since they are on a stationary accessory.

Hello all, thank you all for the responses. I made a mistake and the chimneys only had two tabs. The chimneys are stepped for the shingles on the roof. What I did was to insert the chimney into the slots on the roof and with a pair of squared needle nose plier I put tension on a tab by pulling it tight then gave the tab a little twist. There is no play in the chimneys and everything came out perfect. If I would of just bent the tabs over the chimneys would of been loose. Thank you all again.👍😊
