We took the Polar Express set down and before we packed up the track I decided to run my Western Pacific F3 AA a few days. It's a TMCC set that I haven't run in a year. This was also the first time I had run it in conventional mode. Once on the track there were a few things that just didn't seem right.

  • The smoke switch is set to "No Smoke" but I can still hear at least one of the fan motors humming. (Side note - The "Smoke" "No Smoke" position on the engine are opposite the diagram in the manual.)
  • When the engine was running it was smoking. When it was stopped in the neutral position I could hear the fan motor pulse like it was being turned on and off.
  • Lastly the headlights are not syncing forward to reverse. If I remember correctly when moving forward the rear Mars light would shut off and when in reverse the front Mars light would shut off.

It's a small loop, clean track, running with a CW-80 and then switched to a Z-1000 with the same results.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Update - I reprogrammed the ENG ID #'s for both A units. I then reprogrammed both units, one at a time. Then I built a lash up TR 9 as they came from the factory.

The engines are moving and responding to the Cab1, but...

1) The cab lights are not turning off when the engine is in motion.

2) The back up lights on the back end of both engines are not coming on.

Ideas??? Thanks!
