Well here goes….Received an outstanding birthday gift recently. Lionel 175 mostly intact, boxed with crisp flaps, inserts etc. I discovered the flat wire was many decades old brittle. Not safe for operation, launch date dependent on new wire! So I decided to re pack the unit and parts in the original box inserts and all for safe keeping.
Problem: I’d not make all the photos I needed for Dissasembly/Reassembly due primarily to grand daughter distraction (experimentation with all the parts!).
So this is a strange request, how to fit, repack it! It’s counter intuitive at best! Any re packing guides or postwar box gurus out there? I do know the base fits flat in bottom of original box. How does the actual gantry fit in with the inserts?
