If you do a search on this subject, you'll find lots of threads as this has been discussed within the last week or so. Enjoy the read, some of it gets comical....
In short, the Neil Young cars will be done. As Aaron said, there are several very recent threads about the future of Lionel 18" passenger cars. A few will be done that are already in the pipeline, but the aluminum is being phased out with plastic in the future.
No need to panic, you will have choices out there.
