Lionel 18005 J-1 e Hudson traction

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas to you all.

I have the 1990 Lionel 1805 j1e Hudson that was upgraded to EER Electronics and it runs great except going upgrades I have a problem with traction and would like to know if you have any suggestions to correct this issue. It does not have grooves in the wheels for rubber tires but could I still add them and what size? The front headlight won't work. Any suggestions for all of this.

You’ll never get a traction tire to stay put and be effective, …..rather, that would be annoying,…..depending where the ERR components were added, you can add a  reproduction weight from the 700E…..part # 700E-147 ….this weight bolts on the gear box of a 700E ( early ) ….however, it does fit in the 18005 ( 1990 700E ) I’ve converted boat loads of Pulmor Hudsons to Pittman, and the ballast weight is a must for the ones with no tire groove….
