Paigetrain says: "A clear ghost train".
Brilliant. Best idea on Halloween trains in long time!
Thanks! Let's hope Lionel takes it under consideration.

@Patrick Downing posted:1. LionChief Plus 2.0 Santa Fe Warbonnet F3 AA Set (separate from the 120th Anniversary Set), with an optional, powered matching B unit
If the Santa Fe F3 AA separate sale set came with the same announcements as the Super Chief starter set FT engine look out. I can see the possibility of doing what I have sworn not to do and pre-order them.
I don’t believe I have anything to worry about since the likelihood of that happening is IMO even less than this next catalog having a similar PRR F3 AA set in the non-prototypical Tuscan paint scheme some of us want. If I am wrong and both sets are in this upcoming catalog could be quite the dilemma or just expensive.
something with a price less then the average mortgage payment that runs right out of the box and lasts for a year or more.....too much to ask???
My top choice would be more of the Union Pacific Heritage passenger cars. Ideally, would like a full set of the heritage cars.
It really shouldn't be that difficult given existing products:
40' DD Express TTG boxcar accurate height and also with high speed trucks.
21" UP passenger cars. Late 40's to 50's "in service" appearance sets.
Then also separately offer choices of individual blunt end dome observation cars with "City" drumheads for COSF, COLA, and COSL.
Modelers can build the length of a passenger train with one or two different 4-car sets then separately choose the individually offered "named train" observation cars.
Modify the existing observation car with a clean blunt end to be used for all and make a chromed drumhead piece for each train name. Paint with different accurate car numbers.
Someone like me would definitely buy at least two different 4 car sets and all three separate observation offerings. I could interchange the the observation cars as I wished. Others might just pick up only the one city car they really want. Please listen to customers who are telling you they will actually spend money to purchase.

I wasn't aware of these. I'll watch for them on the secondary market. I'll still hold onto the small hope Lionel will reproduce these knowing all the Milwaukee Road ribbed cars are great sellers,

I'll join the chorus for a scale Legacy NYC Dreyfuss Hudson with matching 20th Century Limited cars. Would think doing a vision line version with multiple smoke effects would be warranted. I would buy all of that. Two road numbers at least, especially if they had the different tenders and paint schemes.
The PC&F 57' Mechanical Refrigerator cars
both LionScale 6-car set and Made in China O scale editions

My wants in life are simple: a reasonably accurate Milwaukee Road transfer caboose.
A NYC woodsided caboose with more scale proportioned separately applied details . The ones in the last catalog are still using the same car from the mid 80’s. Time to re tool or offer ones done in brass.
PRR K5, brass hybrid....

I wish Lionel would announce more of the sought after Weaver models such as the RS3 and GP38 and Roadrailers-especially the smooth side ones for Triple Crown and Amtrak!
I’m with you on the GP38; perhaps some nice, plain blue Conrail ones!

Are the ones from the last catalog at least scale length?
The O scale LEGACY GP30 and GP35 have yet to be produced in the SOO LINE schemes and graphics as built and delivered during 1963 and 1964.
The O scale Extended-Vision Caboose in the GT or GTW scheme of the GRAND TRUNK WESTERN and CV scheme of the CENTRAL VERMONT.
SOO LINE Extended-Vision Cabooses in new road numbers for the SOO GP30 and GP35 models.
What might actually happen is that they have GRAND TRUNK WESTERN and CENTRAL VERMONT GP9 diesel-electric locomotive in the 1970's and 1980's paint schemes, because people ordered the GTW GP9 from 3rd Rail.
Andrew
If the U30C returns are they going to finally have the SOO LINE 1968 paint scheme produced?
If the SD40 returns will it be made in the SOO LINE 1969-1970 paint scheme?
I was hoping that the LionScale Modern 50' plug-door box cars would be produced in the CENTRAL VERMONT White, Black & Green paint schemes applied to CV 50095 to 50099 in 1974 by Berwick, Forge & Foundry. They could add CV 50100 in that CENTRAL VERMONT scheme to make it an even 6 car set.
Andrew
The ACF CENTER FLOW, 3560 Cubic Foot, 3-bay covered hoppers that are now in the LionScale line still have yet to be produced for
ALASKA RAILROAD
Boston & Maine
Chesapeake & Ohio original scheme
DULUTH, MISSABE & IRON RANGE
ILLINOIS CENTRAL GULF
NORCHEM
CORN PRODUCTS
Similar covered hoppers were owned by SOUTHERN
The O scale ACF CENTER FLOW, 3560 Cu Ft, 3-bay covered hopper in the LionScale line needs to be put on Roller Bearing trucks since it was built after 1965.

Since it is the 4th of July, I'll add another to the wish list.
A Legacy scale SD40-2 as BN #1876 in Bicentennial paint. This would be a model of one of the two BN diesels to pull the American Freedom Train without a steamer. Since Lionel is supposedly making the whole AFT consist, it needs this diesel to team up with Lionel's earlier Legacy BN U30C #1776 to pull these AFT cars. The real BN #1776 (U30C) and BN #1876 (SD40-2) were the only diesels to pull the AFT without any of the steamers (#4449 was getting shopped).
The MacKeen car could be made like they make the new Hybrid steam locomotives.

A B unit for the upcoming Star Trek set
Matt, they are scale length. Although the Central had some longer versions. What I would like to see. Is the hand rails and cupola grab irons slimmed down a bit. Some added detail to the step treads. Thinner window mullions. Separately applied roof walks. Round ladders. The ones on there now are just flat stamped steel. I don’t need smoke. It may look cool. But the stack ends up being way oversize.
These cars were really well done for the time period they came out in. The 80’s. With the many NYC steamers they have offered with the latest bells and whistles. It’s time to upgrade their caboose.
An Amtrak ACS 64 with a turn radius of O42 or greater.
How about a variety of Super Bass unpowered A units. This would be great for the folks with smaller layouts (and budgets).

I agree.
Ryan from Lionel mentioned on Facebook that PRR and NYC collectors are gonna love this catalog, so it’s safe to assume that there’s gonna be some Pennsylvania Railroad and New York Central items in it. I’m hoping for a Legacy Dryfuss Hudson and a reissue if the Legacy Subways!
Yay more stuff from the the most overrated railroads there ever were...

Any chance this catalog will leak early like the last one? The suspense is killing me!

If you are referring to NYC and PRR, you cannot say overrated railroads. However, if you are saying the rest of us, that are interested in models of other railroads are neglected, I agree.
Can we get some stats on who is doing the rating, scores and placement of other railroads?

the likely reason why we don't get alot of other railroads is because lionel and others have to pay to get rights to model the road name. it cost money and i guess PRR and NYC are easier. western roads may be harder to aquire .
I would like to see more shortline stuff. As others probably are too, I'm a sucker for nostalgia so I want to get models of trains that I have personally seen, rode, or that operated on the local lines through my hometown.
That being said, I was excited when Ryan said they would be producing scale Strasburg products (hopefully starting in this catalog!) but I would also like to see some more Reading & Northern. A pipe dream would to see Wilmington & Western or New Hope & Ivyland, although maybe one of the Philly area LHS can do an exclusive run based off of Lionel's toolings in future catalogs. Nicholas Smith did a MTH W&W switcher but it's long sold out.
Scale Missouri Pacific 89' Autoracks and 86' Boxcars.
is the date CONFIRMED to be july 15th what about paper copies ?
i know sometimes hobby shops get them early
