Just got my Lionel 21" Pennsy passenger 4 car set. All looks very good except for the lounge (last) car which had back windows and drumhead unglued and hanging loose in the car. I tried to take the body off the car to glue the pieces in place but no luck in removing the body. So I emailed vendor (Richard Ridalfo at Brentwood Antiques) and he graciously offered to exchange the car. Great service! Thanks Richard!

Harold, There are several threads on how to take the shell off the new Lionel 21 inch passenger cars. Due to serious “glue issues” it is a very tedious job. Did you order the matching sound car.?

4 more Pennsy 21" cars, including sound car, have arrived. They look great and no quality control issues!
Clearly, variance in quality of the new Lionel 21" cars and some people unhappy. However, the extent of the problem is not known from Forum posts which are not a random sample of customers or product. My guess is that there are more complaints than kudos posted on the Forum. However that may be, it would be interesting to have a representative sampling of consumer opinion on important new train products. Also, I wonder if Lionel does systematic quality control checks at the factory and before shipping to vendors? For that matter, it also would be helpful if vendors did quality control checks before shipping to customers.
PLENTY of complaints in multitudes of threads about this run of cars....we don't need another thread to say the same things over and over so find one you can add your comments to....this one is closed.
