I purchased a NYC 2333 set marked 2333-20 on the bottom of the black chassis of both the engine and the Dummy.  Are these the proper shells for the engine and chassis?  I see a 2333-20 on Ebay but it is a Santa Fe F3 pair.  Do they both carry the same number?  ALso where can I find the number for the "B" unit that came with it?  I can only find a "B" unit in 2344C, 2344 (2354) NYC F3 DIESEL ENGINE B-UNIT. Would Lionel have made a 2333-20 B unit?  Thanks for anyone' expertise here.

Brien,

That number refers to the frame itself which was identical except for color on both the SF and NYC 2333. By the way, your frame should be gray, not black on the 2333.

There was no B unit produced at the time of the 2333 introduction. The 2344C B unit with the screen vents is the closest you'll come to a B unit for your engine. The lettering may be slightly different in style and application but they look good together.

The B for the 2354 you mention would have the plastic louvers instead of the metal screens on the roof.

Thanks Jim;

Yes the chassis bottoms are gray, not black.  A "B" unit came with both the engine & the dummy, and indeed it has metal screens on top.  Ok...  so I guess I got a good deal because the engine runs strong both in forward and reverse, the shells are good with the normal play wear chips along the bottom, and the decals, the windows and portholes are all good.  The only bummer is the horn doesn't function.  But for $300 I am not complaining.

Is the horn a simple fix?  What would I need to do it?
