I have acquired a Lionel Wabash GP-7.  I don't know much about it but all of the information i have found says they were manufactured in 1958 and on the shell of mine it says 3-57 if someone could help me out with the history and maybe the value of this engine? Its in great condition like brand new.

Original box???  Orange or cardboard???  Box inserts????  Even with all the bells and whistles, I doubt this Peeze would ever get 1400.00, except at some crazy auction where everyone was throwing around stupid money!   Keep the GEEP and have some good fun with it.  They look good and run good too. You can always add the working knuckle couplers and then remove 'em if you ever decide to sell it.  I got my 2339 a couple of years ago at the Cranberry show. Paid $225. with original box and ex. + condition. PW GEEPs are the schizzle !

Greenberg lists both of these at around $275 for an excellent condition. Having original packing and box contents drives the value here i believe.

I bought one a few years back that i was never totally sure that it was an original. The body seems like it is heat stamped but very lightly. The set that this was in was interesting as well with the plane on a flat and boat on a flat. I like the set.

If they are any other differences, I'd like to read about them.

According to Tuohy/McComas, the 2339 had a blue plastic shell so only the gray and white were painted on, while the 2337 used a gray or black plastic shell with all the colors painted on.

One has to wonder if the non-operating couplers on the 2337 were to offset the cost of painting the blue on?

I am thinking that the non working couplers was because this was in an O 27 setand maybe was intended to have less features than the O gauge version 2339 from a year earlier. The caboose that comes with the 2337 set is a bare bones unlit Southern pacific style car so you can see that they were saving on this set all around.  The 2337 I have has operating couplers as it was that way when I acquired it.The Body is a gray shell as Tuohy/McComas describe.

I think i will keep it in my collection, it is a very good puller and not a bad looking engine. This is my first Wabash engine. I have always wanted one so now i have it and i couldn't be happier. thanks for all the help!
