Lionel 2400 series coaches

Try oiling the wheels at the axle shaft.  WD 40 is not an oil.

The cars were originally behind the PRR Turbine. 

A VERY small dab of conductive grease will help the trucks roll better as well as help with the light flicker.

I’ve now oiled the wheels and they run much better. The lights are bright and steady: I notice on the video that they have one bulb out, which isn’t evident watching them. Couplers are all in working order, I find. 

The Hudson just walks away with them, I do like this loco. I wanted some O27 coaches for it, they look the part I think.

I’m really quite intrigued with O27, it has a lot of character, doesn’t it? 

In 1949 the cars also came in an 027 set with a 2025. They were the first of this model car. Oiled axles will keep them rolling. The slide shoe for the couplers are prone to hanging up on switches. But nice cars just the same.

You might also check the wheels right at the flange for gunk buildup.  It was very common to have that problem especially if the track was dirty.  A nail file tip or edge of slot screwdriver will remove it by rotating the wheel while holding the edge against the flange..

Those are still my all-time favorite Lionel passenger cars. I run them behind just about anything!

I also have the PW remakes that came with the green FA diesels released a few years ago.

I’ve spent some more time on the wheels, and run them a while and they are much better, more free-rolling. 

I did like them when I saw them! 

Great Set of cars in good condition. The Trucks on these 2400 cars are awesome.
