All, I am trying to find info on the 1950 2426W tender that would come with a 1950 773.  I know the whistle box would be plastic and white heat stamp lettering on these and not the cast aluminum whistle box and sliver rubber stamp lettering like on the 1946 2426W that came with the 1946 726.

One thing I can't find clear are the front steps.  I see so many with the open steps.  I would think they would be the closed steps on this year/version?

Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks

I believe you are correct. Most of postwar 2426s I've seen have solid steps and I've long contemplated this, as I've had several 2426 restoration projects and looked for solid steps. Unfortunately, the only reproduction I've found were open. This might explain why some are seen with open steps. Unfortunately, I've never seen an authoritative source that mentions the subject, let alone seen any discussion of the topic so anyone who reproduces them has little incentive to provide both types. Sorry I'm two years late to the party.
