I have just received a Mojave 254 (along with some other tinplate) that is being rather stubborn. When power is applied, it only wants to run when you touch the reverse lever on the side. Any suggestions on how I can fix it?
I would suggest some CRC contact cleaner and then look for any wires that the insulation is compromised causing a potential short. From there look to clean up and tighten the reverse switch.

If your wafer is warped, which is common, you can repair. Soak the fiber parts in water, for about an hour, then take a mechanics ratchet socket, large enough to clear the brass inserts , and slide over the brass end of the wafer. place in vise and clamp until wafer is straight. Let sit for a day and should remain relatively straight. Do same thing on mating wafer. OR, I can send you a new complete switch for $20 Harry
