I have correctly wired the 3356 horse car and corral and the corral works perfectly.  Everything is properly positioned.  The problem I am having is that the horses do not move through the horse car.  I believe the problem is either an electrical problem within the horse car, or some internal part of the horse car may need some lubrication.

Has anyone had this problem?  If so, how did you fix it?  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I lubricated the solenoid with Radio Shack t.v. tuner cleaner and the horses still do not move through the 3356.

Thanks, Susan.  I do have the operating instructions and have followed them to the letter.

My last resort is to take the 3356 to my local train guru and see if he can figure out what is wrong.  I see him tomorrow night.  I'll post a reply after I see him.

There is either grime or wax/oil on the car channel. Be sure it is clean but not slick. Spraying the coil is useless, either it works or it does not. Yours seems to work so the issue is elsewhere. The horses nibs could be excessively worn, or if they are reproductions, not of good quality. Adjustments are best read on the Service Manual sheet. I've uploaded a copy of the page I obtained from Olsen's, which are all available on his web site, and pasted a link below.

Thanks to Susan for the .pdf.  Last night, I went over to my train guru's house and we took the shell off the horse car and found that the runway stop had come loose and was wobbling in the runway assembly.  No wonder the horses didn't move.  We put the runway stop in the right position, closed the rear door, and voila!  The horses now go into, through, and out of the horse car.

Thanks to everyone here for their help and suggestions.

You don't say if the car is vibrating at all.

Hmmm--just as I thought.

I just received the 3356 horse car.  It took several hours of adjusting it to get it to work reliably.  Be sure the 4 rubber feet under the car are inserted properly for your O or 0 27 track.  The instructions show how do do that.  The corral did not take much to get it to reliably work.  You can adjust the vibration rate between the power you supply, I use 18 volts, and the setting on the bottom of the corral.  I had trouble with the OTC contactor.  The car didn't vibrate at the same rate as the corral.  I moved the car to an uncoupler track to test it at 18 volts and it worked correctly.  Upon inspection I found that there was corrosion on the base of the OTC that reduced the voltage to about 5 volts.  Once I cleaned and soldered that connection the car vibrated properly.  The other adjustment I had to make to the car was moving the screw holding the plastic ramp to the metal strip that sits on the top of the electro magnet.  I used a feeler gauge to try to get the best vibration rate to move the horses alone.  It took some work, but finally I got them running through the car.  I took two horses that didn't seem to navigate without falling over and put them in the center.  The others work fine.  The OGR site helped a lot, especially by providing diagrams on how the accessory is put together.
