How do I connect the tender to a k line Hudson? What is needed?

The easiest way would be to swap out the electronics and tether from the K-Line tender or find duplicate electronics. The PT tender crew and tower com announcements don't match your engine anyway. It was made for the ESE Hudson, 5429, I think.
I had considered the same swap when I got my PT tender but its not a trivial mod to either convert the tender to wired tether or the engine to a wireless tether. I ended up finding other Hudsons that came with the PT tender.

However, do you know if the sound card for the Niagara with its great whistle can be purchased anywhere?
Ron, I don't think you can get it from Lionel as its Railsounds 5. Lionel is selling some RS4 boards but I am not sure any would be an improvement. You might want to check ERRs new Railsounds board in particular the "large steam" version. Their medium steam board doesn't due the Hudson justice. Its better suited for a smaller engine.
One of the reasons the tender sounds so good though is because it has 4 speakers, its not just the audio board.
you could replace the RS4 board from the K-Line Tender with the RS5 board from the PT tender. That would preserve the nice whistle but give you the wrong crew and tower com.

I don't use the crew talk anyway. If I understand, just keep the RS5 soundboard and replace the rest of the electronics.
