Two of the four wires coming from the field have broken off from within the coil. What can I do to reattach the field to the contact points?

If the inner ends of the wires are broken off flush with the field, I don't know of any way to repair the field, other than completely rewinding it.
When the outer ends of the wires break off, you can remove a turn without any noticeable effect.
If there is a little stub left from the inner ends, sometimes a new piece can be spliced on.
