I lost my chuffing sounds on this engine (in command and conventional) I reprogrammed it, that didn't get nowhere. Where should I start looking?

Find the chuff switch. It's either over one of the axles or near the smoke unit.
This is the cherry switch but is this what I'm looking for?

Alright. I'll start digging for it. Have to pull the DCDS.
The switch is in the chassis, you'll see the puffer being activated by the rod and moving a linkage behind and below the smoke unit. Down there will be the switch.

Not sure if this makes a difference but I did remove the bottom part of the smoke unit. Heres what I have currently, I want to add a fan driven smoke unit.

You night have removed it?

I'm thinking I did.
Follow this lever down, when it moves, it activates the chuff switch.
FWIW, without the smoke unit, you may need to provide an alternate chuff switch.

Ah. Well that answers that. Can I use your Chuff generator?
You can, but note that it's designed to work with the Super-Chuffer. If you run it without the Super-Chuffer, you need to provide a source of 5VDC at around 40ma. When used with the S-C, the power is supplied by the S-C. Of course, if you're adding a fan driven smoke unit, you may want a Super-Chuffer.
Cool, I'll go with both of them.
Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to stuff all of this into the small boiler of the Mikado! I know it's possible, here's a K-Line Mikado of the same size that I installed the whole shooting match into. I can tell you, it's a tight squeeze.

Oh boy, well I guess I'll give it a go, I want to to smoke like that Kline one. What smoke unit did you put in there?
That's an MTH steam smoke unit with a single 20 ohm resistor. It's my standard upgrade if it fits in the locomotive.

Cool. Should I use that instead of a lionchief plus smoke unit?
If you can make it fit. Each locomotive is unique. Since I have probably 30 smoke units in my parts inventory, I can test fit a number to see what will fit. If the MTH AA-0000070 fits, I normally use that. If not, then I look for something smaller, typically like the LC+ unit.
Remember, you have to first plan out where all the stuff will go before you start building.

Very true. Do you have any photos of the innards of that kline mikado?
Matt, sorry, no photos. I do a lot of these, and I've kinda' stopped trying to document each one, chews up a lot of time.

Ah darn.
