Lionel 6-11129 C&O Kanawha Conversion

Came across this nice old thread while trying to find a picture of the real C&O 2699 Berk.  I'm trying to determine the following: 

Is the Lionel model from 2004 (TMCC version) correct with the placement of the headlight on the 2699....or did C&O lower it? 

Quick refresher:  This locomotive was the former Pere Marquette 1215.

Stumbled across this old thread today while looking for a PM Berk lettered for C&O. I'm curious...how did the project turn out?

2699 is not a C&O Kanawha, but a C&O Berkshire - looks pretty good lettered either way...  

2696 is indeed accurate. Minus the c&o herald.  Or at least close.  Lionel so far has stuck with ex Pere Marquette engines which closer match their tooling.   Highly doubt we’ll ever see a correct c&o kanawha from Lionel.  The mth versions are stellar though.

At least they were smart enough to work backwards.....and find prototypes that actually matched their NKP model.   

Both Lionel models of the C&O 2-8-4s are actually pretty cool....with the last TMCC model having the nice Rail Sounds 5 and engine specific crew talk.
