Good evening,

I am repairing a Lionel U30C for a friend. I believe this engine was made around 2001. Both motors are loose. They vibrate when running. When I touch the side of the can motor the vibration stops and runs smoothly. Apparently there must be mounting screws that need tightening. I cannot determine how to remove these motors from the truck. When I remove the screws underneath the trucks, only the casting for the truck shows. Please see photos .

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

This may be the same as the 40-2 from that period. It’s the hardest engine I have ever taken apart. By all means take pictures as you go along.
