They are both half section Fastrack pieces. I simply cut out a section with a Dremel tool for the blades of the telltale to come through.
I put a generous amount of hot glue on the activator and stuck it to the bottom of the trackbed.
Here's one more picture closer up from the top.
I use a 10" straight section of fastrack. Then I cut a 4" section off K&S precision metals #9882 angled brass and file it smooth on ends. Next, I drill two 3/32" holes in the brass section 3/4" from each end. I line up the first hole 3 and 1/2" from the end with the connecting plate so the hole goes through that plate(9 ties) and drill the second hole on the track where the brass second hole lines up. Finally just screw a #4x3/8 screw in each hole to fasten the brass. You can make three sections of track with each K&S brass piece.
Very good. Lionel should have an accessory track for that purpose. Still lots of original and LTI operating brakeman cars out there.
