My son has the Lionel N&W Class A #1218 (6-28052). We got it out to run today after being in storage and we noticed that the drawbar on the engine seems to be hanging low. Upon further inspection we noticed that the wireless tether that is attached to the drawbar is rubbing on the center rail and sparking when going over switches. Once we took it off the track and placed it on the table you could see that the drawbar is hanging too low and the wireless tether is actually sitting on the table. Has anyone else noticed this problem and or know of a fix? Not too keen on bending the drawbar as this may cause another problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Paul: Can you provide us with a better picture of what it looks like "under' the cab area, i.e. the area around the drawbar attach area. I have this engine (and love it BTW) and it has never had this issue. Give us some more pictures to T/S this for you-something is either broken or missing IMO.

I have adjusted by bending more that one Lionel IR tether. It is not a damaging procedure.
Having said that, common sense and a careful touch is always good, and watch those wires if pliers get involved. As I recall, most of them that I have tweaked were done by fingers
alone. Hold with one hand the drawbar near where it attaches to the truck or frame and
bend up or down with the other hand.
Before you do all that, make sure that the drawbar's mounting points and such look OK.
Paul: Attached are two pictures of my 1218's drawbar assembly showing how it SHOULD look so that it doesn't drag on the railhead. Hope this helps you get it back to the correct manufactured shape.
