I would remove these screws, then gently pull.  If the middle feels bound then swap to the other pair.

Those two screws, and the similar ones on the rear, are the first ones to remove. I'd assumed you had already removed those four screws. I'm confused - you said in your opening statement that you'd removed the front and rear screws, but the pictures show them still in place.

I removed them when I posted this thread but put them back in so I didn't lose them as I'm working on a bunch of projects.

Matt, before we even begin to tackle your headlight problem please come clean on what it took to finally remove the shell (the original post).  Your learnings need to be shared so we don't have to go through 15 posts again next time somebody needs to get into another Dash 8.

I have to thank the folks above for the help in giving me guidance in what screws to remove. I haven't ran into very many engines that have screws under the fuel tank and kinda forgot that it was a thing. But I removed the screws with the red circles around them. After I removed the ones from the fuel tank, I left them out and put them in the box with the engine, I dont notice any change in leaving them out and it will be easier to remove the shell when I need to again. Thanks again everyone! Now, on to fixing the headlight. blobid0blobid1blobid2

Try Aux 2 Matt and see if the headlight comes back on.

Already did. No change. The rear light is acting up too. Either they both work or the don't.

Does this engine have spring contacts to connect the lighting circuits to the chassis? If so you might try re-installing the two screws you said above you left off. That might make a difference, especially if the contacts are in that end of the engine.

There is a plug that connects the lights. No spring terminals. All the connections on that plug are tight. I'll try putting the two screws back in.
