Hi everyone! I have an opportunity to buy the Lionel 6-28540 Union Pacific diesel engine for $175. It looks to be a pretty decent engine but it's impossible to find any videos of this one online.

Does the seller list any problems with it?  If taken care of, these early 2000's TMCC engines are bulletproof from my and many other's experiences. You should have TMCC control (also works in conventional), Odyssey I speed control, Railsounds 4.0 with horn, bell, 4 RPM levels, and simple one-line crewtalk dialog/towercom.  I love these early Lionel command engines, and I think they are some of the best bang for the buck out there.

Only thing of note is that Lionel doesn't still sell the electronics boards for these (although they have plenty of other parts still in stock), however of many, many older TMCC engines I've had, I've only ever had one with a  board go bad, and I was able to source another without much difficulty.

Perhaps if you added the road name and diesel type to your title you would get some more responses. Lionel has produced literally thousands if not more locomotives so very few of us can picture what you are asking about from just a 6 digit number!

Woody is correct about engines from this era and that is more than a fair price if all is well.
