All, I recently purchased a Lionel 6-28567 Union Pacific gp7 with legacy. It ran fine for a few months until a few days ago. I started hearing a scraping/gear related noise along with stuttering at roll and slightly above that. (Videos below.) Both flywheels and gears look and spin fine. All electronic functions work. My Lionel 6-28587 Pennsylvania gp7 of the same vintage  also does the same thing. I am puzzled. Is this normal and am I nuts or is there a problem? Thanks.

P.S. Video 1 is of the noise, video 2 is of the stuttering (the noise is slightly exaggerated due to my phone's mic) and video 3 is a better view of the stuttering.

I can not pick the noise but will throw this out.  Those engines had super crappy traction tires and some were so fat they would drag inside the side frames.  Give that a look and see if you are there.  If in doubt, pull the side frames or cut the tires off.  I have many Lionel diesels and the first thing I do when they come out of the box is to introduce them to Mr X-Acto. I then put on the much better MTH tires..  Those engines you have are super runners.
