I'm troubleshooting the powered unit from a 6-31794 subway set red birds. The setup is using a mth z4000 set just shy of 18v. The powered unit functions with sound and door opening and general movement of the engine in forward and reverse.
The engine has a issue when it starts to move it stops after a short distance. ( not a track issue or signal issue.) The command base is still talking to the engine. As, I can activate the doors and railsounds. etc
It is the response to the throttle thee lost. Turning the throttle or hitting the direction the engine does not move. I must hit the reset button on the cab 2 controller. The sequence will then repeat - where engine moves and engine stops.
I believe these units send activate a close door command on first movement. I have read after three door failures. A rest must be applied via the handheld to try and clear the issue. There is nothing about it affecting movement.
So, I wonder even though the doors appear to be functioning correctly. If a failure is being registered?
