I own two Lionel 180 watt powerhouse bricks. I used them to power my MTH DCS layout for several years and recently changed my power supplies for the layout to MTH products. I am looking to make use of the bricks to power accessories. Does anyone know if I can purchase a ZW like the LIONEL #6-32930 without the bricks...controller only? Look for one used at a train show? If so, is this the model I should look for? I'm not very familiar with Lionel products...Any advice would be appreciated...

These transformers can be configured to use 4 -180 Watt bricks- which is really useful. I have one of these transformers, with 2 180 Watt bricks that can be yours, delivered for $250. 6-32930, Slightly used. This would give you a great control system. Let me know your thoughts. Leapin Larry
Good price from Larry, the new Lionel 6-22983 180W PowerHouse price jumped to $149.99, and the cheapest I find it is $112.99 on the street.
I have purchased from LEAPIN LARRY here on the OGR boards, he is top notch Great Guy. Your ZW will be packaged way better then the factory did in shipping and LARRY will send it out fast. Thanks LARRY for the Fast Track and also the Lionel Turbine you have sold me.
Thanks for the replies gentlemen... I own two bricks already and don't need four...I guess look for a used version with out the bricks.
So sell Leapin's two bricks here on the Forum..it's like getting the ZW C controller for 60 bucks or so.You will have enough power to light up Yankee stadium and you could add on latter if need.Your not going to beat that deal.Nick
There is one on our favorite/hated action site for $102 plus $18 shipping. There are 4 bidders.
Like you plan to do, I use my ZW-C controller for lighting and accessory power. I use my controller with some PH135s I picked up cheap (PH180s went to track power), running a bus wire off each throttle around the layout. Having multiple power sources for your accessories is nice because some accessories like 14 VAC, some like 10 VAC, some need a full 18VAC to run right. Four PH180s is overkill for most accessory needs, but it is nice to have four separate power sources to fine tune the power I want.
Thank you all for your replies and your suggestions!
