I am refurbishing a 6026W tender and not yet found the right way to remove the armeture to further check the lower end it runs well but should check it anyway any input appreciated

They are typically not meant to be taken apart. Your statement “it runs well”, says it all. The proper oiling, and other routine maintenance is all you need.
