Looking for a replacement heater for the 6110,anyone know what the resistance is,the part # is 6110-8 but i can't seem to find it...any ides on a substitution...thanks...Joe

Can you add a turn of wire?
Sometimes there is surplus wrapped around the copper terminal.
no good...maybe a resister ?

Sounds normal. If you can see that it's red, you are powering it while the loco is stationary. Under operating conditions you should be fine. Use your favorite SP/SP repro pellet or any liquid and you're good to go.
the original smoker in my Dad's 6110 gets red hot...been that way forever, and smokes great when moving.
Make sure the hole in the boiler front is clean, That will bring air into the smoke unit as it runs and help move the smoke out of the stack. (I still have my 6110 from 1951- my first Lionel!)
