I have just upgraded my lionel 8404 steam turbine to TMCC.  I am pretty satisfied with the performance except for the whistle and chuff syncronization.  The whistle will go off randomly when the smoke is on.  The chuffs are spaced quite a bit apart.

I assume this is all due to putting the TMCC board in.  The original had three wires hooked to the ground, supply and the motor field.  I assume the board synchronizes with he motor field somehow.  The whistle probably goes off randomly because there is some DC offset created when the smoke unit is on.

I probably will upgrade to railsounds but would mind leaving the sound system as is if I could get it to behave.

Keep in mind that where the CC Turbine is concerned, there may be 2 sound boards for each locomotive kicking around.   There was the delivered plastic tender with turbine sounds and then the separate sale die-cast tender with the turbine sounds.

Pretty sure these were connected with the 5 pin wire harness but am not sure what components in the locomotive might be required to use these sound boards.
