I took the shell off, removed the motor (8002-100) added grease (red&tacky), the LHS showed how to remove the motor and grease the engine; this is not the first time I have added grease to the engine. Now the only thing that works is the smoke unit and it smokes like a tire fire, so I know there is a problem there, don’t have a clue what I did wrong but the engine will not work. The tender was not connected when I first tried to run the engine so I connected the tender, still the engine will not run.

When the two screws holding the motor are tighten hard the wheels will not turn, loosen the screws a tad and the wheels will turn. I took the engine out again to see if the gear on the end turned, it did not

 

All help will be appreciated.

How about asking that LHS that showed you how to remove and grease the motor?

How about asking that LHS that showed you how to remove and grease the motor?

The LHS died a week after I bought the engine.

Are you sure it's the smoke unit that is smoking. Perhaps there is a pinched wire in the area that is shorting out and smoking. This would prevent the current from reaching the motor, and would likely cause the breaker to trip on the transformer (possibly in 15 seconds or so?).
