Hey Yall,
I am think on buying a set of Lionel Amtrak Superliner passenger car (6-39124). And I have a question of them. I want to know if the shells is aluminum or if it is plastic? The catalog said that they are extruded aluminum bodies but some time the catalog are misleading. Also if anybody has any picture of the car or could take a few pic. It would been most helpful for me to decide if i would to get a set.

There is a Williams aluminum set out on ebay.
S & J Trains - As the owner of a 6-39124 set I can confirm that the 4 cars are made out of aluminum. They are nicely detailed (particularly the passenger figures inside) and also track well. I'm very pleased I bought this set.
Here is link to a set of 6-39124 that sold but it has the pictures you are looking for. Just a word of warning that if you buy the 4-pack the bug to purchase the 3 other add-ons will set in.
Steims - You're absolutely right! I subsequently acquired the 2-pack consisting of a Sleeper Car and a Lounge Car, which are quite different from the 4 Coaches and very nice also. However, I've decided to pass on the last Station Sounds Car.
