Here is a site with pictures of both Gilbert Erector and Lionel Construction set displays.
I though some people here might like to see it.
Enjoy.

Great stuff, thanks!
Wow! I remember drooling over pictures of these sets as a kid.
I got to play with my eldest brother's Erector set leftovers.
Thanks for the link. Pretty impressive creations. I am pretty sure it took a few sets to make some of those creations.
I seem to remember a picture on the forum of a layout with an Erector Set bridge. Obviously it looked toy but it had the 2 best toys I had as a kid

Talk about bringing back memories! My mom used to take me over to New York City (CNJ to Jersey City, CNJ Ferry across the Hudson, then walk up to Times Square), just prior to Christmas each year after the war. First visit was the Lionel Show Room, then to Gilbert Show Room, then to F.A.O. Swartz (sp). Fantastic boyhood memories.
This is the one that I remember, the motor & building. I should go and dig this out of the attic.

Most of the pieces shown on that site are factory made store displays. The fellow who created the site has comments about what is what.
I couldn't resist buying one of the Lionel construction sets a few years ago in Hershey. While they're nowhere near as common as Erector they're probably non-existent here in the great white north.

Thank you for posting these pictures of items built with Gilbert Erector Sets. I have a question for you. In the picture of the Erector Merry Go Round, What American Flyer Train items are in those red and white American Flyer boxes sitting on the top self.
Thank you.
Jim,
The displays and web site aren't mine.

Whew!! I had an Erector set when I was a kid but never built anything like those models.
