Good Morning!

I am in the market for a GG 1, and I have noticed that the MTH body "sits" higher (exposing more wheel) than the Lionel. I think the partially covered looks better, but which is more accurate? I would like a single stripe, Brunswick Green used in the late 40s-late 50s. The Lionel 18313 looks good, but lacks any sound.

Thanks for any help anyone can give!

Cheers,

Bill

The 18313 has some issues related to the magnetraction. Lionel did produce one with TMCC and Railsounds but it had a list price of $749.Look around for one of the Century Club GG1's they had TMCC and Railsounds and you can usually get them pretty cheap.

K-line made some nice versions some with TMCC and Cruise.

Williams has always made some nice versions and they usually have both a powered and dummy together for very good prices. Command control and sound can be added.

Lionel command system needed to operate any with TMCC.

MTH also made some with PS2/3 but you will need the DCS system or the basic Remote commander to operate them in command.

Lots of choices.

Thank you, too, TexSpecial!

I have a mix of Lionel, K-Line, and MTH, all non-scale. I have a conventional system, with a ZController. I get good sound on my Lionel Atlantic and cockpit conversations , as well as my K-Line NY Central Streamliner.

As you can tell, I'm not a pro, but I love it.

Was I mistaken re the height of the body above the wheels being greater on the MTH than the Lionel?

Thanks Steve, Lady, and Tex!
