I don't understand how people mess that up!! The one side has a drawbar and the other has a knuckle... how do you not put 2 and 2 together?? It's more difficult to put it the wrong way than the right way
Its not a 'tender", its a "coal car"...LOL!
Good thing about this reversed tender practice, its a sure sign to move on when it involves an item on the secondary market.

RickO,
Why?
I would think that you'd be able to get a better deal from someone who's clueless about what they're selling, and proudly shows it.
Of course, knowing so little they may also believe that they can get rich selling old toy trains, and set a price far more than they're worth. Fortunately this is easy to spot however.
As a result, and in general, I run toward them and not away.
Mike
You'd be surprised - At the NYC Transit museum at Grand Central, the display under glass of a non- running engine had the tender backwards. I asked the person who was working on it, how did the fireman get to the coal?
Somewhat related.
In the new Hallmark movie “Five More Minutes” a Lionel ready-to-play Polar Express train is called “The Candy Cane Express.” The name on the tender is covered up with I think, store business cards and a couple candy canes are placed on the number 1225 steam engine.
Must be a carryover from person's having had a six inch Marx set with a coffin tender that could be coupled and look the same either direction, with tab and slot couplers. And now they think any direction is normal. And besides, isn't there a tunnel down the middle of the coal load so the fireman can walk through and shovel all the way to the back? (He,he)
Watched the movie again last night. The train is a G gauge Polar express set.
I think that part of the problem is that you are watching the Hallmark Channel. Reality is not their strong point.
They are more of a "Boy meets Girl" channel!
