Lionel Bascule Bridge HELP | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I have a Bascule bridge I was finally able to install. It operates well but only opens 45 degrees. I think this is the spec, not sure. Has anyone been able to modify the bridge to open further ie 90 degrees. There seems to be more cog teeth to allow. I don’t want to take apart unless it can do done and someone has achieved it. Appreciate any help. Al

That is about the limit, you reached it, it never opened up a lot, I worked at a draw bridge for Con Rail and it only opened up about 68 degrees...

A real bascule bridge opens as far as the weights balance it. The great thing about them is how little energy is required to lift!
