I see the 4 berkshire baseball sets are in my LHS as of today.

I'm not familiar with this. Can you explain what it is?
We have all 4 sets in also as of yesterday.
Interesting. I'm curious as to how they will sell. Personally I don't see how they work with a steam engine. Something more urban, like the Subway Series set they show, seems more appropriate. Or if they're going to produce the Berkshire, I think they'd do better with retro team logos from an earlier era.
My guess is these will mostly be bought as gifts from unsuspecting spouses trying to support the husband's hobby - "Oh, Hank likes trains and the Yankees, I'll get him this for Christmas! He'll love it."
Then the train will, at best, sit on a display shelf and never see the rails of the layout. Just my opinion...
Charlie,
You should only be selling Yankee Sets!!!

Never be too quick to judge what another person might buy. There are all kinds of
buyers with different wants and tastes and a good company will find what people
will buy and make it. A few years back when Lionel came out with a line of "Lionel
Corporation" rolling stock items, I told my local hobby dealer, "These cars won't
sell". He informed me that he had more orders for those cars than the others.
It takes all kinds to make a profit these days.
I noticed no NY Mets train..which is just as well, it would probably go off the rails a lot, would operate only in reverse a lot of the time, and the whistle would whine 'Maaadoffffff' the way the owners do every time people complain about how bad the team is...(and I am a lifelong Mets fan who doesn't hate the Yankees..)
Passenger to station master: "What time does the Chicago Cubs train arrive?"
Station master to passenger: "Wait 'till next year."

If they had a steam set for the Brooklyn Dodgers I might be interested.
Thats very interesting. I have one of them on order with my local shop and noticed that Lionel recently moved the shipping date for those sets from July to September!

So then they might sell one of them then.
