Wow, these threads are popping up everywhere!
Those $2500 Ebay Legacy BB's just dropped!
I just checked Lionel's site and didn't see anything. But, we know how up to date it can be!
Whoever has the best price will get my business.
Thanks, Scott! About what I expected it would be, although I figured the average "street price" would be around $2,200.00.
Not a surprise, really. Market price, I think.
Smart move on their part.

Though it must be very special, that kind of price just gives me pause...
How many did you order Scott?
I can't even gawk at the price having just spent $2,600 on a train myself. However, I will say it was a complete GGD 1948 20th Century Limited with two powered E8 A's, a dummy B, and twelve 21" cars weighing in at 60 pounds and 25 feet long. A single engine though....
Remember you get a piece of track too!

I'm sure with the street price coming in where it did -- i.e., not really making things too painful for those who pretty much expected the $2K price-point (I thought it would be higher) -- there will definitely be some who order two, perhaps more.

OK... so now that we got that over with... let's get down to some REAL business with a MUCH broader appeal. What's the street price gonna be for the PE Berks???
David
I'm just interested to see what real owners reviews have to say.
I don't see it on the NS web site

They're there. Not featured on the splash page though. The "cart price" is $500, and the description indicates the final price as $1999.99

We'll have another one to add to your Lionel UP thread!

I have the original Lionel Big Boy; I don't see a reason to upgrade no matter how many features they add. The one I have still runs and runs well.

Holy smoke, now that is a train! This man loves big trans! Nick, we need pictures, I am sure it is beautiful. Love GGD stuff.

A little surprised (in a pleasant way) at the price also. Will look nice next to a certain grey VL Challenger. You know the ONE.
wife said we are a go!!!
I have arranged to pick it up at this coming York. Simply WAY too much train to entrust to the gorillas commonly employed by shipping companies...
Here are the seller's photos. This is what I expect when plunking down that much hard-earned dough:
Here is a photo of Brian's (Passenger Train Collector's) set to illustrate its length. This is without the diesels to boot:

Nick, thanks for the excellent suggestion regarding York pick-up (to prevent shipping damage.)
I just sent Charles Ro an e-mail to see what the cost will be for the B.B.
I believe delivery won't be until November. That came from Lionel person at the traveling train show outside of Phila. in January. Caution, he did not mention the year.
If I bite, waiting to see if one item appears in the new catalog before I commit, I hope to support my LHS. I probably won't see these prices but hopefully not too much more.
Either way they'll get a sale.

Or you could just look here on the forum
Except those are Charlie Nassau prices.
Most likely the same but you never know.
What is the cab number for the one that is currently under restoration.?
Thank you

It isn't "under restoration" yet, because it hasn't left California yet. But it is road number 4014.

Beautiful train; good luck.
I'm a big fan of the GGD cars. I have the 10 car set for the Southern Pacific Daylight
I guess this put to rest those comments about " it has to be under 2K". Now let's see how many actually order it.

I'm in, waiting for the best deal. Probably a combination of price and shipping will get my business.
I can't tell you all how excited I am about this engine. To me, it doesn't matter about profit margins or deposits.
It is simple-the first time you hear that whistle cut through your soul, the smoke starts pouring out of it, and the beast starts moving, I won't be thinking about how much I spent.
And, I already own 2 Lionel Big Boys. Make that soon to be 3!
